Zoe Jaboor Joins AWSC as Off Snow Operations Coordinator: 'NEW'

AWSC is pleased to announce that Zoe Jaboor will be joining Australian Winter Sports Camps as the off snow operations coordinator. Zoe will be looking after the off snow component of AWSC camps and will ensure the day to day operations run smoothly.
Zoe is a Buller based skier who coaches with Team Buller and Buller Riders during the winter and is an active competitor in Australian and overseas events. Along with being a professional skier and coach, Zoe is also an Occupational Therapist and a past AWSC participant. We welcome Zoe to AWSC and look forward to working with her. |

AWSC Skiers and Boarders Clean Up at National Interschools:'NEW'

AWSC skiers and Boarders have cleaned up at the National Interschools recently held at Falls Creek. The weather conditions during the event was very trying with rain and thunderstorms for most of the weekend. AWSC athletes did very well with podiums in all events in just about all Div 1,2,& 3 male and female divisions.

AWSC Feature on Goin Ballistyx Snowboard Show Thurs 8th Sep 8.30pm - Ch 31

An AWSC feature on our overseas snowboard (and ski) camps in Silver Star and Big White will air tonight on the 'Goin Ballistyx Snowboard Show'. Shot in Melbourne the show will air at 8.30pm tonight, Thursday 8th September. At the moment the show is only available to Victoria viewers however for those in other parts of the country keep your eyes open as the show will be aired in SA, NSW & QLD in the coming weeks. |

AWSC SKIERS AND BOARDERS COMPETE AT NSW INTERSCHOOL STATE TITLES:

AWSC skiers and Boarders achieved fantastic results recently at the NSW Interschools State Titles held at the end of August. AWSC athletes from the past couple of years have been competing in the Snowboard GS and Boardercross, Skiing GS and Skiercross and Moguls.

CHARLES BECKINSALE - NEW AWSC SNOWBOARD COACH

AWSC is please to announce the appointment of Pro Rider and Coach Charles Beckinsale to the AWSC snowboard program. Charles who rides out of Thredbo is one of Australia's hottest riders and has coached many of Australia's leading young riders including Ryan Tiene. Apart from Charles' riding and coaching prowess he also has an awesome knowledge of park design and building and is the park designer at Thredbo.
We are super excited with Charles joining the team and are sure that the skills, experience and knowledge he'll be passing onto riders on this years programs will invaluable to all those involved. |

BIG DAY FOR AWSC SKIERS AND COACHES @ ABOM MOGUL CHALLENGE

AWSC moguls skiers and coaches both past and present had a big day last Saturday at Australia's premier moguls skiing event - ABOM Mogul Challenge. With warm conditions and clear sunny skies the scene was set for some fantastic mogul skiing action. With plenty of international skiers this was the best field seen at the event in many years. AWSC Skiers and coaches dominated the field with plenty of podiums and finals results across all age groups. AWSC skiers and Boarders have been dominating at the 2005 Victorian Interschools currently being held at Mt Buller. AWSC athletes from the past couple of years have been competing in the Snowboard GS and Boardercross, Skiing GS and Skiercross Moguls.

THE WEB GURU RETURNS
August 12th 2005:
The AWSC web GURU Tyson Nutt is confirmed again for this years AWSC programs in Silver Star. Tyson has been with the camps for four years and during this time has been responsible for the maintenance and daily updating of the camps online website. Tyson ensure the site is updates everyday by 6.00pm AEST and last year loaded over 1500 photos and 400 movies of AWSC athletes. He does an awesome job and we are very excited to see him back with AWSC again. |

GLENN WURTELE & WADE CHRISTIE - NEW AWSC ALPINE SKI RACE COACHES:
July 27th 2005:
AWSC is pleased to announce the appointment of Glenn Wurtele and Wade Christie as the new AWSC Alpine Race Coaches. Glenn & Wade replace Gord Brown who has recently taken a position as head coach of the Ontario Ski Team. Gord will be greatly missed however we know that both Glenn & Wade are exceptional replacements.
Glenn Wurtele is a well recognized leader in the profession of Alpine Ski Coaching with 28 years of success and experience. Glenn holds the highest coaching qualification in Canada as well as the highest certification in France Glenn has been a Master Coach for the National Coaching Institute, a Course Conductor for the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation and a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation. Glenn Wurteles' work history includes seven years (1984-1991) as the Canadian National Ski Team “Mens' Head Coach” which saw him coach at World Cup, World Championships and the Olympics.
AWSC has also secured the coaching services of Wade Christie. Wade's most recent position has been as head coach of the Silver Star race club for the past 8 years. As a level 3 race coach and past member of the Canadian national team he not only brings great knowledge and skills to AWSC but also a keen enthusiasm for the job. |

AWSC SKI COACHES EBBERN, MC NIEL & COOKES RETURN FOR 05/06:
July 26th 2005:
AWSC is pleased to announce the return of all of last years mogul and freeride coaches for the 05/06 programs. Chris Ebbern, Peter Mc Niel and Dan Cookes will join AWSC again for the Canadian program later in the year. They collectively work very well as a team and provide first class coaching and facilities for the athletes of their respective groups.
Canadian Chris Ebbern will take on the duties again as Head Freeride Ski Coach. Returning for his 3rd year, Chris's exceptional coaching skills and ability to nail the big tricks make him the logical choice. Chris spends his winters in Australia coaching the freeride team at Persiher Blue and is an active competitor amongst the Australian competition scene. Peter Mc Niel returns to AWSC for his second year and will take control of this years mogul program. Peter is a past member of the National Development Mogul Team and is still an active competitor on the Australian circuit. Based at Mt Buller, Peter is a Team Buller member and the Head Mogul Coach for the Buller Riders program. He has a fantastic technical knowledge of mogul skiing and is very passionate and enthusiastic about coaching and seeing athletes improve.
Full of energy and passion for skiing Dan Cookes returns to AWSC for his 3rd year as a mogul and freeride coach. He's done an amazing job over the past two years and achieved great results with the athletes he worked with. Dan's level of knowledge and understanding of the sport is exceptional due to his many years as a National Team Member and his ability to communicate that knowledge to his athletes is fantastic. |

AWSC BOARD COACHES BEGGSY & SAMMER RETURN FOR 05/06:
July 26th 2005:
AWSC is also pleased to welcome back two of our snowboard coaches Adam Begg (Beggsy) and Klaus Sammer to the 05/06 AWSC programs. Beggsy returns to AWSC for his fourth year as head freestyle snowboard coach. His coaching and judging experience has been invaluable over the years in developing the skills of all those who have ridden with him. We welcome him back and look forward to another big winter.
Austrian Klaus Sammer returns to AWSC this January for his third series of camps has head alpine snowboard coach. As a past member of the Austrian WC team, World Championship medal winner and Olympian his wealth of competition experience has been a huge advantage for his athletes.
Further coaches will be appointed over the next month or so...stay tuned!
