GENERAL FAQ
Q1. Do I need a visa for Canada?
A. Australian citizens are not required to have a visa prior to departure if they are visiting Canada on a holiday. (confirm your case with the travel agent)
Q2. How long has AWSC been operating overseas training camps?
A. Australian Winter Sports Camps have been operating training camps for the past twelve years. For more information on AWSC history - click here
Q3. When do applications for AWSC 2005 / 2006 programs close?
A. Applications will close on the 1st November for the Silver Star Programs and the 1st December for the Big White program. Please contact us after these dates as we may have last minute cancellations
Q4. Do I have to compete in competitions?
A. Competitions are not compulsory for AWSC participants although we do encourage them more information on competitions. For more information see information on competitions.
Q5. What sort of travel insurance do I need?
A. You will need a travel insurance policy that will cover you while you're competing (most regular policies will not) AWSC has a policy available. Contact us if you would like additional information and prices.
Q6. If I arrive or depart Silver Star outside the designated arrival and departure dates will someone pick me up or drop me off at the airport?
A. YES. An AWSC representative will pick you up or drop you off at Kelowna airport. You will however have to pay an airport transfer fee.
Q7. Can I adjust my camp dates to accommodate my school and or personal commitment's?
A. Yes, AWSC is able to vary your arrival and departure dates, this needs to be done prior to departure.
Q8. If I decide to buy my new equipment in Canada can I get a discount anywhere?
A. Yes, AWSC has arranged discounts of upto 50% at various retailers both on Silver Star and in neighboring cities.
Q9. What sort of things will I be doing when not on snow?
A. AWSC and Silver Star has plenty of activities planned for you during your stay in Silver Star. For more information see things to do in Silver Star
 
JUNIOR - YOUTH PROGRAMS FAQ
Q10. How are the camp participants supervised?
A. We have a very high athlete to staff ratio of 1:4. This allows us to monitor and supervise the athletes at all times.
Q. How much extra money am I going to need?
A. If you decide to compete you will need money for entry fees and lift tickets. Otherwise the only extra money you will need is what you decide to spend on shopping and for the optional AWSC activities.
Q11. Can my parents transfer money to me while in Silver Star via an AWSC account?
A.Due to varying exchange rates and bank fees, funds cannot be transfered via an AWSC account. The easiest method is to use your Australian account that can be accessed from Canada
Q12. Am I able to swap between programs when in Silver Star?
A. Yes, this is possible between some programs. It must be organised prior to departure from Australia.
Q13. Does AWSC pay for all my activities while in Silver Star?
A. AWSC provides many activities for camp participants which includes some compulsory activities. There will be some optional activities that are heavily subsidised by AWSC and some that will solely be the responsibility of the athlete.
Q14. What is the age range for the AWSC Junior Programs?
A. These programs are for participants aged 12 to 17 years.
Q15. What is the age range for the AWSC Youth Programs?
A. These programs are for participants aged 9 tyo 11 years.
 
JFYA FAQ
Q16. How does the 'Just For Young Adult Program' differ from the junior programs?
A.The main difference is accommodation while Silver Star. The JFYA program is accommodated in completely seperate facility than out junior programs which enables more freeedom and flexibility. All the same inclusions as the junior programs including food and coaching still apply.
Q17. What is the minimum age for the 'Just For Young Adult Program'?
A. Minimum age for this AWSC program is 18 years.
Q18. What is the SUPA COMBO?
A. The Supa Combo allows adult participants to package together the JFYA in Silver Star and the Park and Pipe in Big White
Q19. Is the JFYA Accommodation different to the Junior and Youth programs?
A. Yes JFYA participants are accommodated in a completely separate building.
 
PARK, PIPE & RIDER DEVELOPMENT CAMP FAQ
Q20. Where are the Park, Pipe and Rider Development Camps held?
A. The camps are held in Big White Resort, BC Canada
Q21. What is the minimum age to attend the Park and Pipe camp?
A. The minimum age to attend this program is 18 years
Q22. What is the duration of the Park and Pipe camp??
A. The camp begins Jan 30th 2006 and concludes February 13th 2006
Q23. Can I combine this camp with other AWSC programs?
A. Yes you can take advantage of the SUPA COMBO option. click here for more info
